Whistleblowing is an effective tool for uncovering misconduct within a company.
It promotes a culture of transparency and integrity and can help in identifying and minimising potential risks at an early stage. Swiss organisations with branches or subsidiaries in the EU employing more than 50 people are also indirectly affected by the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive. Such companies are required to provide internal reporting channels for these branches or subsidiaries.
If companies do not provide internal reporting channels or do not respond to reports, whistleblowers are permitted to contact the competent authorities. BDO can support you in designing and implementing appropriate reporting systems and in investigating reported information internally.
